Description

Do we support encoding and decoding text from
ports with different character encoding systems?
Different end-of-line conventions?
Different normalizations?
How are encoding errors handled?

Please see my comments on Issue 31.

It is my considered opinion that Scheme I/O is a mess and needs serious work. My general attitude on this issue is "no".
