This is a face-to-face comparison of three container SRFIs, [http://srfi.schemers.org/srfi-1/srfi-1.html SRFI 1] for lists, [http://srfi.schemers.org/srfi-13/srfi-13.html SRFI 13] for strings, and [http://srfi.schemers.org/srfi-43/srfi-43.html SRFI 43] for vectors. Procedures present in the small language have mostly been removed unless they have corresponding procedures in other SRFIs that aren't part of the small language, as I assume that they won't be separately part of the large language. The order of functions is basically the order of SRFI-1, the most comprehensive library: the functions are grouped as constructors, predicates, selectors, miscellaneous, filtering, partitioning, searching, and deleting.

The following sections and subsections are omitted here because they aren't likely to have counterparts in other containers:

* association lists (SRFI 1)
* set operations on lists (SRFI 1)
* trimming and padding (SRFI 13)
* alphabetic case mapping (SRFI 13)
* low-level procedures (SRFI 13)

== Maximalist proposal ==

The ''maximalist proposal'' is that this is for R7RS-large, and all the empty boxes should be filled with procedures, except for cases where it clearly makes no sense to do so. Here's a list of "makes no sense" that various people have proposed:

* list-binary-search has the wrong speed and space performance to make any sense
* string-binary-search doesn't reflect the way people use strings: a vector of chars would be more plausible
* first .. tenth are primarily leftovers from the very old days before records
* string-iota -- strings don't hold integers
